When we first visited the apartment, it was devoid of good natural lighting and the mezzanine steps between the dining and living were a key concern to their new born.
The combination of wood and tile makes a statement on their own. The soft warm of wood creates at an inviting and soothing ambience for a family home, making the abode a safe space for a family that has a little one.
The dining was also landlocked with just a sliver of a window that brings natural light into the space.
our strategy was therefore to open up the dining into the kitchen and create "frames" that define the living room space, the dining as well as the kitchen. By framing views into each space, we defined clearly their relationship to each other, whilst making steps narrower for the young one to walk safely. Unique conversations between he wooden accents and various elegant tiles happens throughout the space, a harmonious and dynamic design language that is special to this home.
